Just edited this Blog, which has, to date, 1 comment. From my oldest daughter, who, BTW, is about to become a mother at 25. In the middle of her education she fearlessly journeys into the unknown universe of parenthood. She will doubtlessly, as usual, do a great job.
In June 1971 I put my draft card in the nearest mail box on my way to the airport... On it I had penciled "F... You! I know what kind of games you are playing" - actually a pretty long note, considering the size of the card. I was nearly 19 years old and had pulled an unlucky nr.71 in the draft lottery. I wasn't really evading the draft, just disgusted and in need of a vacation before hassling with the authorities. I was pretty much at ease with the idea of 2 years in jail with others of like-mind.
I traveled around Europe on my rail-pass for a couple of months, met a Danish girl in Austria and got involved. My induction papers arrived that Fall. Made my choice and stayed In Europe, In Love (not a difficult decision). The US Govt. drug me to court in-absentia and slapped me with a Draft Evasion charge(federal offense!) Guilty! Stuck, but happy, I spent 7 years in and around Copenhagen before the US government let me off the hook with a general amnesty for draft "refusers" in the wake of Nixon's amnesty for real crimes. Still here after all these years. Wonderful wife and 3 great kids later. In retrospect, leaving the US behind was the best thing in the world for me.

Hey daddyo!
Hvor er det en fin blog - sjovt at læse din historie i sammenhæng med dine egne ord.
Især dejligt det der med dine tre dejlige børn. :)
